Frequently asked questions: Is there a place to rent/dock a pontoon boat (or other boat) near the property? We have a large floating dock that travelers are welcome to use! Pontoon and jet ski rentals are available at Lake Arbutus Motor Sports http://www.lakearbutusmotorsports.com/ . Kayak and Canoe rentals are available at Hatfield Sports Shop http://www.hatfieldsportsshop.com/. We also have a paddle boat (sometimes two) on the property that is free to use. Is it safe for kids to swim in front of the property? (Does the water get very deep very fast etc.) Yes, it is safe for children to swim in front of the property, but of course please watch them closely at all times! The sandy beach gradually goes into the water. About 7 feet out it drops to about 5 feet deep. If you have older kids the water at the end of the dock is only about 8 feet deep. No deep diving! I jumped off this dock a million times as a kid! :) What nearby activities are available for kids? There is a lot for kids to do in the area. There is a roller skating rink right in Hatfield (about 3 miles away from the house). Lake Arbutus Resort (2 miles away by road or accessible by boat) has a tiki bar with a sand area the staff often throws change in for kids to find, they also have slushy drinks (a favorite with the kids in our family), a small arcade in a gazebo off the patio, free mini golf, and volleyball courts. There are two county campgrounds/parks on the lake – both with playgrounds. There is a gas station that has hand dipped ice cream, which the kids in our family also always ask to stop at. I highly suggest the caramel collision if you go! Lake Wazee is a beautiful deep and clear lake to go check out about 13 miles away towards Black River Falls (BRF). In BRF there is an aquatic center and movie theatre. In Neillsville (about 10 miles away) there is a bowling alley, Frisbee golf course, skatepark, and a regular golf course. If your kids like hiking Levis mound is also a great place to go. What dates do you have available? Because we just recently listed our home we still have many dates available, but we are booking up quickly! Eagles and osprey can be seen soaring overhead. Levis/Trow Mound Recreational Area is just a few miles away and consists of 15 miles trails and an additional 19 miles of backcountry routes for hiking or snowshoeing. The tops of the mounds offer a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. Bruce Mound Winter Sports Area is also just a few miles away. It has 10 scenic slopes for skiing and snowboarding and 5 snowtubing runs with a rope tow. The East Fork is the original outlet of Ancient Glacial Lake Wisconsin. If you are into geology Late Cambrian granite and gneiss rocks lie beneath the sandstone and are exposed on the property and in a few places in the rapids on the East Fork. This property lies on the western end of the Central Sand Plains Ecological Landscape. The low population density of this area has numerous species of many mammals, birds and insects. It also lies in Clark County which has more dairy farms than any other county in the state at over 900. There are also many cheese factories to sample. A recent article reported that there are 4 cows for every person in Clark County, and an equal number of deer as humans. Enjoy a quiet, peaceful getaway at a this cottage located on a 50 acre lake front property. Perfect for nature observers and bird watchers, located where the East Fork of the Black River enters Lake Arbutus. The property includes miles of trails, lake and river front, with several islands and inlets in Lake Arbutus to kayak or canoe in the spring, summer and fall. However during these times there is hiking, snowshoeing, ice fishing, hunting. Try you luck at the local Ho-Chunk Casino. Also try your ski skills at the Bruce Mound Winter Sports Area. Another popular area is Wazee Lake recreation area, known for its fresh water diving and underwater forest. East Fork Black River Natural Forest area, known for over 100 miles of trails and sightseeing. This is the perfect place to get away year round and to just unplug! Hatfield has 5 different bars/restaurants, a roller rink and several markets on Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. In the woods…but not exactly roughing it. If you enjoy a natural setting and the comforts of home, our cabin is the right fit for your getaway. Nestled back on a wooded lot in Hatfield, Wisconsin, this log-sided home offers great views of the "small water" Buckhorn and is a short drive to the area's hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as the “big water” of Lake Arbutus is less than a mile away. The cabin is in a quiet, residential area, not a good match for ATV riders. The cabin sleeps 6 adults, with a sleeper sofa extending the number to 8. Fully outfitted, modern kitchen with dishwasher. Central air. Wifi. It’s all just 10 miles off the Black River Falls interchanges from I-94, Just over two hours from either Minneapolis or Madison. FYI - The water level's of lower Buckhorn are down/shallow due to work on the dam, please contact me for updates!

We welcome hunters and snowmobiles durning the winter. The Lazy Bear also offers direct access to the ATV and UTV and snowmobile trial. You may also want to take a short walk to beautiful Lake Arbutus or visit some of Hatfield restaurants or bars. The Lazy Bear comes completely furnished. This included bed linens, outside grill, washer and dryer, microwave and side by side fridge. The only thing you will need is bathroom towels and wash cloths and toiletries. Buckhorn Lake Cabin is a beautiful, log cabin built by my family, and surrounded by pine trees and large wrap-around deck with view of Buckhorn Lake, a quiet, no-wake lake. The cabin is officially designated a no-stress zone. The 2,200-foot cabin sleeps 11 and has two full baths. It’s heritage living, but with all the amenities of home including dishwasher, microwave, oversized bathtub with jets, stone fireplace, heat, and air conditioning, and washer and dryer. The perfect place to get reacquainted with family, friends, nature and you. So grab some floats and tubes and jump into nearby lakes, sunbathe, read on the deck, play music and board games in front of the stone fireplace, engage in a ping-pong tournament in the family room, create a great meal and enjoy one another, relax by the fire pit and roast some marshmallows, ice fish, cross-country ski or take a walk and look at the stars or the wildlife, or enjoy a soak in our oversized bathtub with jets. Or come for a solo retreat and stoke-up your batteries. Located one mile from Hatfield, Wisconsin and 11 miles from Black River Falls, Wisconsin, the area looks like the “North Woods,” just closer! The cabin is approximately 2 1/2 hrs. from Minneapolis and Saint Paul, 3 hrs. from Milwaukee, 4 1/2 hrs. from Chicago, 2 hrs. from Madison, 1 hr and 15 minutes from the Dells. One mile away is Lake Arbutus, an 839-acre lake with boat and jet-ski rentals, boat ramps, picnic areas, beaches and playgrounds, and an indoor roller skating ring. So throw your car keys away for a while and technology (if you can) and get to know your spouse, family, and friends or even yourself better. Don't worry about bad weather: Majestic Pines Casino is nearby, and antiquing and an affordable fitness center which includes a swimming pool and dry sauna; fitness room, gymnasium two racquetball courts, and a 125 meter suspended walking/running track available. There is also an outdoor pool/ water park near the community center and an indoor and outdoor water park is just 1/2 hr away. Two-night minimum most the time except during the summer and on holidays and event weekends. Then it is a 3-night minimum during holidays and in June. During the summer there is a one-week minimum. We rent Sunday to Sunday, July and August. There is a 5.5% sales tax in addition to the quoted base price and an $80 cleaning fee. **Drivers License required to confirm guest is 25 years or older*** Please Note: We use our hotspot on our cell phones to get to the internet for work, conduct zoom meetings, occasionally watch Netflix (not proud of that, but we are up there for a couple of weeks.) The driveway to Caballete Retreat is about a quarter mile off the town road so you will never see a passing vehicle. In summer, a beautiful cover of thick green ferns carpet the forest floor. In winter, the carpet changes to snow, mother nature cooperating. We keep the drive plowed all winter. ~We are not located on or near ATV or Snowmobile trails. Riding either vehicle on the property is not allowed. Trailering to the trails is necessary for either machine. Trails for either machine are located within a 10 mile or less drive and takes only 15 to 20 minutes to several locations. Our rural area does not present traffic issues or delays. ~There is room at the retreat for multiple car parking and turning small to midsize trailers around. We have parking space with easy access, nearby on our property, for larger trailers or multiple trailers. Most guests find the parking area to be very adequate for their needs.

Welcome to our cabin tucked away on 50 acres of mixed woods interspersed with riding/walking leisure trails. One mile from Jackson County State ATV/Snowmobile trails with access via ATV road routes. Minutes from downtown Black River Falls, Lake Wazee Rec Park, Robinson creek & numerous fishing areas! After a day of adventures (or relaxation) you'll want to gather around the fire pit while counting the numerous stars and hearing the coyotes sing in the distance. You might even hear a wolf howl or an Elk bugle?! We have 3 bedrooms that sleep a total of 9 adults. In the master bedroom, there is a queen bed and a private bathroom with a shower. Bedrooms 1 and 2 both have a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and a single on the top. Bedroom 1 has a pull-out trundle bed. Bedroom 2 has a toddler mattress and a pack-and-play available. Bedroom 2 also has a stack washer/dryer as well. The family room has a full wall of windows to enjoy the pine views and let in an ample amount of sunshine throughout the day. There is a large sectional with ottoman, an antenna TV that gets all the local channels and a DVD/Blue Ray player with a DVD collection. There is also a variety of games. The Kitchen has a full sized refrigerator, electric stove/oven, and microwave. We also have the basics for cooking your own meals. (pots, pans, utensils, bowls, plates & silverware.) We just ask that you clean and return anything you use. **Full disclosure, we do have well water and the iron content is more prevalent in this area so sometimes the water isn't super clear. We do have a water filter otherwise bottled water might be a good idea. We have never had an issue or any problems with the well water. Outside we have a fire pit, lawn chairs, picnic table and a gas grill available. Please cover the woodpile and return the chairs when you are done so we can keep everything dry. We do have a large pole shed that we keep locked up as we have items in there we want to keep secure. Feel free to explore the trails whether you are walking, biking, snowshoeing or skiing. We ask our ATV guests refrain from riding on our trails other than at slower speeds. We don't want our trails to get tore up and we want to keep people safe on our property. The boundary lines are marked so please be mindful of those. You may ride your ATV's directly to the Jackson Co. trails which are a mile away down both Dodge road and Oak Ridge road. Our roads are ATV posted so there is no need to trailer your ATV's. Jackson Co. has some fantastic trails and they connect all the way up to Clark Co. so you can ride until your heart is full!! (Or your butt is sore ;-) We are nestled on the south loop of the Jackson Co. ATV trail system. a 1 mile drive down dodge road to the west takes you to one trail entrance, a 1 mile drive down Oak Ridge Road to the north takes you to another trail entrance. You can also go further down Dodge road to Robinson Creek where there are beautiful cliffs and rushing waters. Grab a couple lawn chairs and a cooler and sit in the spring fed creek on a hot day to cool off. You can also kayak/canoe the creek or venture to the Black River for a nice paddle as well. We have numerous trails throughout the 50 acres that you can explore. You will find various species of Pine, Oak, Maple, Poplar and Birch trees. Blue Jays and the Karner Blue Butterlies are common. We often see deer, turkey, porcupine and an occasional fisher wander through. We are about 10 mins from downtown Black River Falls where you can stroll through the picturesque downtown. Sand Creek Brewery has tours and a tasting room or visit a number of quaint bar & grills in the area. Black River Falls is also home to the FIelds of Honor Veterans Memorial near the Dam. You can also see the Native American influence by driving east to the Andrew Blackhawk Pow Wow grounds. You can also visit the Ho-Chunk Casino in the same area as well. In the summer you can find a beach at Lee Lake, Lake Wazee Co. park or enjoy the Hoffman aquatics center in Black River Falls. The park also has a large playground, skate park, and sledding hill. You can visit the Lunda Community Center where they have an indoor aquatics park, fitness center, basketball courts, indoor golf simulator, racquetball, and a rock climbing wall. Every season has its unique charm in this area. We have found it to be a fantastic get-away in any season and we enjoy learning new things about the area each year. You can get on your rigs at the house, take one of our driveways out to Dodge Road, then drive straight to the Trail 6 section of the two-County system. The 300 + mile snowmobile trail is well-groomed and maintained and connects to another 500 miles of trails in surrounding counties! Again, you just leave your trailers by the guesthouse, get on your rigs, drive out the driveway and you're in sports-rider heaven. Our base rates apply to up to 5 overnight guests without pets. If an additional overnight guest is approved, an additional $20 per nite will be charged. We don't count children under the age of 3 at the time of check-in but do reserve the right to limit the number of overnight guests, with or without K9s, at any time. Just 10 minutes to I-94, newly renovated cozy and unique old granary on 92 acres of picturesque landscape. Kitchenette, two private walk out back decks. Lower deck has hot tub and area to interact with friendly horses. Quiet, relaxing setting with gorgeous views. We are also pet friendly, motorcycle accessible, snowmobile accessible and Atv as well! The cabin can accommodate up to 5 people, but is designed for a romantic couples getaway. The kitchenette can be used to prepare all meals. Gas/charcoal grills for guests to use, fire pit and area supplied with wood, lighter fluid and everything else you need even all the ingredients necessary to make Smore‘s! Guests have access around the property and on all 92 acres. Hiking trails on the property and a springfed pond to fish, swim or just to look at. We love to meet people from all around the world. This newer two-bedroom one bath cabin gives you the cabin experience with modern touches. On a private 1.5 wooded acre lot with direct access to the Snowmobile and ATV Trail systems in Eau Claire, Clark, and Jackson County. Covered front porch, Gas grill, and a large fire pit for relaxing after a day on the trails. Close to lakes and rivers for fishing, boating, canoeing, etc. Unload your ATV/UTVs and start having fun! New water filtration system installed Jan 2021. You have the best of both worlds when you stay at the cabin. You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere yet you're close to supper clubs, bars, golfing, breweries, wineries, shopping, bowling alleys and you can even find roadside shops set up by the local Amish community. Across the street you will find a place that offers great food, dinner specials, outdoor seating, and it's a great place to get a cold beer. Less than a 1/2 mile down the road (ATV/UTV friendly) is another great place to grab some food, snacks, soda, beer and enjoy an ice cream on their huge outdoor patio. The cabin is located close to thousands of acres of public hunting land and ATV/UTV/Snowmobile trails.

It is a three bedroom cabin on the lake with a dock. Two rooms have a king size bed, and one bedroom has three twin size beds. The cabin is right off of the Clark county ATV and snowmobile trails. It is down the road from the Clark county park. The park has a beach, boat landing, and playground equipment. The cabin is fully furnished except for bedding and towels. There is a wood burning fireplace inside and a fire pit outside (wood is provided). There is also a 4 season room with 3 couches for additional sleeping. We also have a washer, dryer, and dishwasher. There is a canoe and a paddle boat. No life jackets provided. No pets. We now have Wifi!!

Your recreational pursuits are endless. Fish, swim, paddle board, kayak, canoe, boat or jet-ski on the lake. A beautiful beach and county playground is less than a mile away. Ride your ATV to the trails right from the property. • Rock Dam Lake is a 100 acre, man made lake in the middle of county forests. No commercial pontoon or boat rental is available. • If you want a night out, there are two taverns that serve food just across the lake. • Quieter activities could include watching a DVD, playing board games, cards, Yahtzee or dominoes from our collection of games and videos, reading a book or just relaxing by a campfire and watching the sunset. • Our 1,680 square foot year-round cabin features 2 bedrooms, one and a ½ bathrooms, living room, dining room, and large eat in kitchen that easily accommodates up to 8 people. The kitchen comes fully equipped with refrigerator, stove, microwave and a washer/dryer in the adjacent laundry room. Also included are pots and pans, dishes and utensils. Just bring your food! • If you want to go exploring, Neillsville, Hatfield and Augusta are 30 minutes away, Black River Falls is 45 minutes away and Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls are an hour away. • Getaway and make memories with your family this year.
